Medical Techician – Basic

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the Healthcare Industry is also known as a lifesaver or paramedic.

Brief Job Description: Individuals at this job need to provide emergency medical support and care to individuals who are critically ill or injured and transport them to a medical facility within stipulated time limits.

Personal Attributes: This job requires individuals to work in a team and be comfortable in making decisions pertaining to their area of work. Individuals should be able to maintain composure in extremely stressful conditions in order to assess medical situations and perform emergency lifesaving procedures according to the methods in which training has been imparted to them. Individuals must always perform their duties in a calm, reassuring and efficient manner. The individual must be able to lift between 45 – 99 kilograms of weight with a partner, as the weight of patients will typically fall within that range. The fitness of the individual should be assessed using the Defence Man & Woman guidelines.

General Duty Assistance

General Duty Assistant – Healthcare (GDA) are also known as “Nursing Care Assistant”, “Nursing Assistant” , “Nursing Aide”, “Bedside Assistant” or “Orderlie” when working in a hospital environment.

Brief Job Description: Individual on the job provides patient care and help maintain a suitable environment. Some of the key responsibilities of the General Duty Assistant are to provide patient’s daily care, patient’s comfort, patient’s safety and patient’s health needs.

Personal Attributes: This job requires the individual to work in collaboration with Doctors and Nurses and other healthcare providers and deliver the healthcare services as suggested by them. The individual should be result oriented. The individual should also be able to demonstrate basic patient care skills, communication skills and ethical behaviour. The individual should be willing to work in wards or clinics in shifts.

Brief Job Description: Provide routine individualised healthcare to the elderly, convalescents, or persons with disabilities at the patient’s home. Monitor or report changes in health status. Provide personal care such as bathing, dressing, and grooming of patient.

Brief Job Description: A Healthcare Quality Assurance Manager’s main job is to ensure that healthcare organization gets the right guidance to implement quality accreditation/certification standards and healthcare personnel are guided to follow quality parameters at all times. They may implement the quality  accreditation/certification process directly in the healthcare organization depending on its size and nature of services.
